We install the necessary devices to remotely control lighting, water supply controls, electric door strikes, and many other electrical devices — not only over the Internet but also with a telephone. And given the low cost involved, maybe over both the Internet and with a telephone. And it’s inexpensive to also add a handheld push button remote to wirelessly control these device when at home.

We also provide systems integration services. An example of systems integration is using your Internet enabled security alarm system to remotely open a door.

We use X10 technology for its reliability and low cost.

X10 technology allows compatible electrical device control products to talk to each other using existing electrical powerline wiring. We access this technology by sending a signal over the Internet or a telephone line to an X10 powerline controller that’s attached to a home’s electrical wiring. The X10 controller then turns our signal from the Internet or telephone line into an X10 signal that moves over the home’s electrical wiring to a switch or relay that turns electrical devices on or off.

In addition to turning electrical devices on and off, X10 technology can also be used to activate push button electrical devices such as garage door openers.

What’s an electric door strike?

Electric door strikes operate by using electricity to lower the side of the strike that holds the door latch in place. The door is then free to swing open. Following is a picture of some typical electric door strikes:

What water supplies would I want to control remotely?

Remotely controlling the watering of lawns and crops based on weather forecasts can save on water bills.

A leaking water pipe or hot water tank can do quite a bit of damage in a short amount of time. So many people like to turn their property’s water system entirely off when not at home, and it’s nice to be able to do so remotely. This is normally done by placing an electric ball valve in the water supply line.
